Nasal packing

Nasal packs come in numerous shapes and sizes. Below are examples of the two most commonly used.
Rapid rhino
​
Initially covered in a water to activate a haemostatic agent, the pack is inflated with air via an internal balloon.
Merocel
The pack is inserted dry. When it becomes wet, the pack swells providing causing a tamponade.
